Mock Exam Textiles

Hi GCSE Textiles students

The theme for the mock exam in November is the fairground and you need to design a product for the teenage market.

Write a design specification and draw an idea in colour, label with fabrics, decorative techniques and components. Use an LED in your idea!

Use the AQA site to look at past papers and use BBC Bitesize to revise the topics carefully.

Bring your idea to me on Wednesday 22nd October. Good luck. Mrs T

£1 Coin Competition - win £10k!

Here's an exciting opportunity for you all!

The new £1 coin is due for release in 2017 and you have the opportunity to express yourself and design the tail of the coin!

The winner will receive £10k and a chance to visit the Royal Mint to see it being manufactured, not to mention the pride in seeing their design on the back of the new £1 coin!

Visit this website for more information and to enter:
http://www.royalmint.com/newonepoundcoin/how-to-enter
You will need to take ownership and submit the entry yourself to the Royal Mint so make sure you download your own personalised entry form from the website. You will also get a copy of the rules with hints and tips as well. Please read these carefully!
Things to note:
  • Check the design rules carefully.
  • You can use pencil, ink, paint or computer software to draw it on your personalised entry form downloaded from the website.
  • Your entry must be the exact representation of what you want it to look like (no rough copies!)
  • Your design must be your own work and not use any third party content or images of people.
  • Consider what represents Britain clearly.
  • The winner will most likely be mentioned in the media and press!
All entries must be emailed or posted to the addresses mentioned on the website in order to be considered, by 30th October 2014. See the terms and conditions for more information.
On top of this, there will be an internal Beaumont competition too! So all you have to do is give a photocopy of your entry to any D&T teacher, and a winner will be chosen and awarded a prize! School entries must be in before half term on 24th October 2014!
